The look of age, without the fragility

Vintage-style rugs take traditional motifs (medallions, borders, ornamental florals) and give them a faded, distressed or washed finish, so a new rug looks as if it has been in the family for years. The rugs here are newly made, mostly machine woven from polyester or polypropylene blends, which makes them far more practical than a genuine antique: lower in pile, easy to vacuum and kinder to the budget.

How to use one

  • Pair with modern furniture for contrast, or with wood and linen for a relaxed country look.
  • The busy, faded pattern hides everyday marks, so it suits family rooms and halls.
  • Low piles sit well under dining tables and doors.

Questions about vintage-style rugs

Are these genuine vintage rugs?

No. They are new rugs with a vintage-style faded or distressed design.

Are vintage-style rugs hard-wearing?

Most here are machine woven from synthetic fibres with a low pile, which are practical for everyday rooms.

What is the difference between vintage and Persian-style?

Persian-style describes the pattern; vintage-style describes the faded, aged finish. Many rugs are both.
