Classic pattern with a lived-in look
Traditional rugs borrow from Persian and Oriental rug-making: a central medallion, a field of scrolling flowers or a repeat motif, framed by one or more borders. Many of today's designs are deliberately faded or distressed to look like a well-loved heirloom, which makes them surprisingly easy to live with, because everyday marks and crumbs disappear into the pattern.
