Soft, deep and washable

Shaggy rugs are the cosiest underfoot but have a reputation for being hard to keep clean. The rugs here are labelled washable by their maker, so a spill does not have to mean the end of the rug. They include abstract Avellino designs with a pile of about 23 mm and checkered and geometric shaggy designs in polyester.

Before you wash

  • Read the care notes on the product page: they say whether the rug is machine or hand washable and at what temperature.
  • A large rug is heavy when wet; bigger sizes may need a hand wash outdoors or a launderette's large machine.
  • Dry flat or over a rail, away from direct heat, then fluff the pile with your fingers.

Full instructions are in the washable rugs guide.

Questions about washable shaggy rugs

Can you wash a shaggy rug?

Only if the maker says so. Every rug in this collection is labelled washable; check the product care notes for how.

How do I dry a washable shaggy rug?

Lay it flat or hang it over a rail, out of direct heat, and turn it so it dries evenly. Brush the pile up once dry.

Are washable shaggy rugs good for pets?

They are easier to recover after accidents than non-washable shaggy rugs, though a long pile still holds more hair than a low pile.
