The Persian look, without the price of an antique

A Persian rug is, strictly, a hand-knotted rug made in Iran, and the finest can take months to make. The look, though, is what most people want in a modern home: a central medallion or an all-over floral field, deep borders, and colours softened as if by decades of sunlight. Our Persian-style rugs recreate that look in modern yarns, most of them machine woven, so they are affordable, lighter to handle and easier to clean, and many are distressed for a vintage finish. Each product page lists the material and construction the maker gives us.

Where to use one

  • Under a dining table or a bed, where the border frames the furniture.
  • In a modern living room, as a warm contrast to a sleek sofa.
  • In a kitchen or hall, where the busy pattern hides wear.

Questions about persian-style rugs

Are these real Persian rugs?

No. They are Persian-style rugs, inspired by Persian designs rather than hand knotted in Iran. Each product page lists the material and construction the maker gives us.

What is the difference between a Persian and an Oriental rug?

Persian rugs come from Iran. Oriental is a broader term for rugs from Asia, including Turkey, India, China and the Caucasus.

Do Persian-style rugs suit modern homes?

Yes. Faded, vintage-look Persian designs are one of the most popular ways to add warmth to a modern scheme.
