Shaggy rugs
A shaggy rug is the quickest way to make a room feel softer and warmer. The deep pile is comfortable underfoot, adds texture to plain floors and works especially well in living rooms and beside the bed.
The Opulence Shaggy and Atlas Shaggy rugs are our plain, deep-pile staples, in shades from ivory cream and natural to silver, gunmetal grey, sage green, petrol blue, navy, terracotta and burnt orange. Soft, deep pile for rooms where you go barefoot
Shaggy rugs have a long pile, from around 20 mm to 50 mm on our designs, made from heat-set polypropylene, polyester or recycled yarns. The extra depth makes them feel soft and warm, and it hides the occasional crumb better than a short pile. They suit bedrooms, snugs and the side of a sofa where you sit with your feet up.
Living with a shaggy rug
- Vacuum with suction only, or with the brush roll switched off, so the long pile is not tangled.
- Shake out small shaggy rugs outside every few weeks.
- Avoid heavy-traffic routes and dining chairs: a deep pile is harder to slide a chair across. For dining tables choose a low pile rug.

How do you clean a shaggy rug?

Are shaggy rugs good for bedrooms?
Yes. Bedrooms see light traffic and bare feet, which is exactly where a deep, soft pile is most enjoyable.
Do shaggy rugs shed?
Most shed a little in the first weeks as loose fibres from manufacture work out. Regular gentle vacuuming deals with it.
Can I use a shaggy rug in a high-traffic area?
Deep pile can flatten in busy walkways. Consider a lower-pile rug for hallways.
