What OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 means
OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 is an independent label for textiles. Every component of a certified product, from the pile yarn to the backing, has been tested against a list of substances that may be harmful to health, with limits that go beyond many legal requirements. It is a reassuring label for rugs in bedrooms, nurseries and family rooms where people (and pets) spend time close to the floor.
The rugs in this collection are listed by their maker as OEKO-TEX certified; you will find the certification noted in the product details. Many are also hand washable, which is useful in the same rooms. See washable rugs.

Questions about oeko-tex certified rugs
What is OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100?
An independent certification that tests every part of a textile product for harmful substances.
Does OEKO-TEX mean a rug is organic?
No. It is about testing for harmful substances, not how the fibre was grown. Organic fibre is certified separately.
Are OEKO-TEX rugs suitable for a nursery?
The certification is a good starting point for a nursery rug. Also choose a low pile, washable design with a non-slip underlay.
