How we match you

The quiz uses the same advice as our guides:

  • Outdoor spaces get outdoor rugs; kitchens get flat or low-pile, wipeable rugs.
  • If you want to wash it, we only suggest rugs the maker labels washable.
  • Pets, young children, dining rooms and hallways steer you towards low, dense piles and away from viscose and deep shaggy piles.
  • If you are happy to care for a natural fibre, wool is the long-lasting choice; jute suits dry, quieter rooms.

Every result links to a live collection of real rugs. For the detail behind each material, see rug materials explained.
