- You are happy to blot spills promptly and put up with some early shedding.

- The rug is for a kitchen, hallway, conservatory or outdoors.
- You want a deep shaggy pile at a sensible price.
- Budget matters most, or you change your rugs every few years.

What about blends?
Wool and viscose blends add lustre to wool. Polypropylene and polyester blends combine the stain resistance of polypropylene with the softness of polyester, and they are among the most common machine-woven rugs we sell.
Frequently asked questions
Are wool rugs better than synthetic?
Wool lasts longer and feels warmer; synthetics are cheaper and easier to clean. The best choice depends on the room and household.
Do synthetic rugs shed?
Machine-woven synthetic rugs shed far less than wool, though some new polyester shaggy rugs release loose fibre at first.
Is a wool rug worth the money?
For a main living room rug you plan to keep for years, wool usually repays the extra cost.
Are synthetic rugs toxic?
Rugs sold in the UK must meet safety rules. If you want extra reassurance, look for OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certification, which tests for harmful substances.
